Recent successes have once again confirmed Loughborough University Swimming as the most successful training programme in the country. Many of the UK's leading swimmers train at Loughborough. Several members of the Loughborough squad including Liam Tancock joined team GB at the Beijing Olympics and had an outstanding success with many British Records being broken.
This was followed by an excellent World Championships in Rome, where Loughborough members of the GB squad won 5 of the 7 medals won in the pool. This included two silvers for Jo Jackson in the 400 and 800 metre freestyle and a bronze with fellow Loughborough athlete Caitlin McClatchey in the women's 4 x 200m freestyle relay. Fran Halsall took on the fastest 100m freestyle sprinters in the world in her final, securing a silver medal and a new British Record time. To cap off the Loughborough Squad's excellent performance, Liam Tancock won gold in the 50m backstroke in a new world record time of 24:04s.
The support provided by St. James's Place safeguards and secures the existing swimming development programme, allowing the squad to maintain its current highly effective performance programme.
