Initially, our sponsorship of the Loughborough University Swimming programme reflected our desire to support a community programme of talented sports individuals in the build up to the London 2012 Olympic Games. However, because of the difference our relationship has made, we have extended our sponsorship of the programme until 2016 and the Rio Olympics.
The Loughborough Fast Swimming programme is the most successful training programme in the country, with many of the UK's leading swimmers training there.
Since our relationship started in 2007, the team have medalled in all major UK and international events including European, Commonwealth, World Championships and the Olympic Games. The team also boasts several World Record holders.
Four swimmers in the programme, Francesca Halsall, Georgia Davies, Molly Renshaw and Tim Shuttleworth competed at the European Championships at the London Aquatic Centre, winning Gold, Silver and Bronze medals and setting English Records between them.
They also represented Britain in Rio in the 2016 Olympic Games in the summer, completing the 26 strong British swimming team.
The support provided by St. James's Place safeguards and secures the existing swimming development programme, allowing the squad to maintain its current highly effective performance programme.
The support provided includes:
- Structured pool and gym sessions for specific swimmer needs
- Sessions to fit around lecture programmes
- Scholarship support for elite swimmers
- Physiotherapy and massage
- Sport science support
- Underwater video analysis
- Subsidised accommodation at major meets
- Warm weather training camps
- Nutrition advice
- Sports Psychology support
Members of the squad benefit greatly from this support as it helps to put them in the best possible position to produce their top performances in major competitions.
