SJP Order Execution Policy
Under FCA rules, St. James’s Place (SJP) is required to take all sufficient steps to obtain the best possible results for clients when ordering or placing orders on their behalf. The obligation to deliver best execution applies in relation to all types of financial instruments.
SJP has an Order Execution Policy (OEP) and procedures that are designed to obtain best execution on a consistent basis, subject to and taking into account the nature of the orders and markets in question.
This disclosure statement provides clients with information concerning our OEP in respect of funds that contain client assets.
- When placing orders to deal in financial instruments, SJP funds must adhere to best execution rules as outlined in the FCA rules (COBS 11.2 and COBS 11.2B).
- SJP does not execute these orders directly, as portfolio management and order execution are delegated to third-party party investment advisers.
- The delegated investment advisers must have OEPs in place and adhere to these policies when executing or placing orders. They should also act within regulatory standards and in the clients’ best interests. SJP maintains oversight of these activities to ensure compliance.
- All investment advisers will take reasonable steps to achieve the best possible outcome when placing orders with other entities. This includes considering execution factors such as price, cost, speed, likelihood of execution and settlement, and order size.
- SJP is required to undertake ongoing due diligence, and all investment advisers are reviewed on an ongoing basis.
- The investment adviser OEPs vary due to the range of the different investment strategies they manage, the types of assets they invest in, and the various markets relevant to the funds.
- In turn, all the above factors lead to different execution venues being used across the range of SJP funds.
- The investment advisers are not entitled to commission in respect of any deal on behalf of the funds.
- Details of the execution venues for the funds are available upon request.
